Lives and works
in Lima, Peru

Andrea Grau is a multidisciplinary Peruvian artist based in Lima, Peru. Primarily focused on painting, her work delves into themes of identity, memory, chaos, pain, love, transformation, and resilience through abstraction and a gestural vocabulary drawn from her inner visions, often revealing a calligraphic quality.

Grau’s practice is intuitive and performative, requiring—and suggesting—the presence of her body interacting with the entire piece through movement and gesture.

Her work is deeply influenced by the shapes and colors found in nature and the surrounding landscapes, prompting reflection on her personal relationship with them.

She holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she was part of both the Painting Department and the Fiber and Material Studies Department. Her previous exhibitions include SAIC Galleries in Chicago and ALA Projects in New York.
